Just a note - "as well as the 1st percentile for aerials lost per 90 (3.99, no midfielder loses more)" should surely read "no midfielder loses fewer, yes?
Since losing aerial duels isn't desirable they (FBREF) have switched the percentile values around there, I suppose. I agree that's a bit counterintuitive to the wording itself though.
Yeah, it's always rough when you're working with percentiles - some sources invert it so that higher is always better and some don't, which can be annoying confusing.
What would you think about Curtis Jones? I’m not sure if Liverpool would sell, I’ve always admired him and still think he has untapped potential and talent.
Jake actually shouted him out briefly at the beginning of the most recent pod! (#86: Hale End On Tour).
Imagine we'd all be in favour, more of an #8 than a #6 but has that ability to receive and build out from deep, plus of course the impact he has going forward. Disciplined defensively, though would want to see more of him when sitting in the middle of a block.
Agree he has untapped potential, someone I (Alex here) have been a fan of for a long time.
Excellent work! Would like to have seen an analysis on Youssouf Fofana here. He looks like he could dictate from deep and has the power and finesse to manage a midfield. He also looks press resistant and a leader to boot.
